The Walsall Football Supporters Trust has proactively reached out to the club on behalf of our members, highlighting ongoing concerns around matchday security and pre-entry search procedures. While we commend the club’s efforts to enhance safety, there are still key issues that need addressing. This season alone, two pyrotechnic devices were thrown onto the pitch by visiting supporters, underscoring the importance of a consistent and clear approach to security.
Our feedback draws on concerns from fans about inconsistencies and a lack of clear communication on security procedures, which has created confusion and discomfort for supporters. For example, family members attending matches at Molineux have reported consistent and respectful searches using metal-detecting wands for all attendees, whereas some supporters at our own grounds have faced uncomfortable frisking procedures without a clear explanation of the approach being taken. This inconsistency has led to unnecessary anxiety for fans and highlights a need for better communication from the club.
The Trust has consistently raised these issues with the club, and while we recognise that the stewards are undergoing training, we urge the club to prioritise transparency and uniformity in their procedures. Clear and proactive communication with supporters would go a long way toward building trust and ensuring a safe, respectful experience for all fans.
We remain committed to supporting these improvements and are hopeful that our collective efforts will lead to a safer, more informed, and positive matchday environment for everyone.

Thanks to the Trust for raising this matter as I was concerned and going to raise this to the club. As this matter as been raised I’ll wait and see what the outcome is. Thanks again Melvyn Cotterill.
