As part of our ongoing and positive relationship with Valerie Vaz MP we have an important update regarding ongoing parking issues on the Poppyfields estate during matchdays. Despite efforts from both the Club to encourage respectful parking, local residents have expressed concern about blocked driveways and potential obstructions for emergency vehicles.

  • Some vehicles have been parking on existing double yellow lines, which the Council is looking into. Away supporters may also be adding to the problem.

Proposed Traffic Regulation Order

  • Walsall Council Consultation: A new Traffic Regulation Order is being consulted on, including plans for additional double yellow lines (see plan below).
  • End Date: Consultation closes on 28 February 2025.
  • Enforcement: The Council would be responsible for enforcing any new parking restrictions.

What You Can Do

  • Please park responsibly and avoid residential areas if possible.
  • Spread the Word: If you know fellow fans who might park on Poppyfields, let them know about these concerns and the forthcoming regulations.
  • Stay Informed: Keep an eye out for further news, especially regarding potential new parking restrictions.

Next Steps

  • Valerie Vaz MP has offered to speak to supporters directly to help reinforce this message.
  • The proposed barrier on the estate would require a separate consultation and Traffic Regulation Order if pursued.
  • Updates about accessibility issues are ongoing and currently with the Mayor’s office. Valerie hopes to address this soon.

We appreciate your cooperation and remind all supporters to be mindful of local residents and the impact on their community.
